ABOUT NATE
I work in words, images, and wild places.
By day, I’m a designer. On weekends (and sometimes longer) I’m in the mountains or underground. I’m not there to conquer anything. I’m there to pay attention.
Over the years I’ve explored alpine karst, off-trail ridgelines, and the fragile systems that shape both landscapes and people. The deeper terrain, though, has always been internal: grief, recovery, resilience, and the structures we build to survive.
The Safe Exposure Collection grew out of that overlap—where risk sharpens the senses and silence makes room for honesty.
I’m not trying to be an expert. I’m trying to stay awake.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Safe Exposure Collection is a body of work rooted in descent and return.
It begins with Underground Echoes, a short memoir shaped by caves, fire, and rope. It continues through field notes, photographs, drawings, and map-based pieces that explore how structure and surrender coexist. How attention becomes a form of stewardship.
This isn’t a series of instructions. It’s a record of learning.
The work moves between documentation and reflection. Less spectacle, more listening.
It doesn’t claim to fix anything.
It aims to notice what holds.
